ABOUT
In the context of our times' poly-crisis, we find that more and more young festivalgoers and cultural consumers are seeking socially conscious music festivals. We believe that they do so because the community-building platform of music festivals has the ability to let art serve as a lever for democratic conversations about some of the major global challenges such as climate, sustainability, and mental health. They do this because festivals have a potential to open new perspectives on the world and foster dialogue among people. They do this because here they can get new perspectives on relevant and important global agendas — and perhaps a hope for a better future.
The purpose of the initiative is to engage music festivals and other cultural actors in conversations about the potential and responsibility of using music and the festival's unique community space as change drivers within themes such as the social aspects of sustainability, social inclusion and mental health. The aim is that after engaging in these conversations more live music organizers get inspired and motivated to use their platform to drive change.
The initiative runs from 2024-2025 with activities in Denmark, Germany, UK and United States.
All activities are designed with point of departure in the overall objective and purpose of the initiative, but with a strong focus on local relevance and anchoring in each country. This also means that the initiative is carried out in close collaboration with several cultural institutions and organizations from all four countries.
Through the different activities we will debate and process questions such as:
How can music festivals support the development of new green solutions?
How can music festivals help form the new headliners of tomorrow?
How can music festivals inspire more social inclusion?
How can music festivals facilitate democratic conversations about global agendas?
How can music festivals learn and exchange knowledge cross borders and formats?
